Tightly Woven Modern Metal Wall Art

My tightly woven metal wall hangings are unique modern metal wall art. Most of my metal art weavings are made by weaving together non-uniformly cuts strips of copper: I call them wavy weavings. Flame-colored weavings are then heat-colored with the oxy-acetylene torch to create a multiplicity of interesting shapes with beautiful blues, purples, reds, browns and yellows. The colors appear to have an iridescent quality, reminiscent of abalone shell. I am making wavy weavings in numerous sizes: 12″ x 36″, 18″x24″, 24″x36″, 36″x48″ and 36″x60″. If you need a custom size, I can do it for you. I particularly like wavy weavings because the strips suggest to me how water flows. In fact, I think of these pieces as being visually virtual waterfalls.

I also do straight strip woven metal wall hangings! With the above very large design, I graduated the strips incrementally from 3/4″ to 1.5″ and back down again for a subtle effect.

All designs can be installed vertically or horizontally. I can also do these with security hangers welded on. All weavings have a rigid metal back. They are very easy to install, even for non-carpenter types. Installations usually take about ten minutes – a little longer if ladders are involved.

Rhomboids are unusual and fun. There are quite a few ways to install them. Its a unique shape and makes a strong statement on the wall. Folded rhomboids start out as wavy weavings, then are fan folded on my Magnabender.
